MEGAsync（メガシンク）は無料のクラウド同期ツールで、パソコンの重要なファイルをクラウドストレージと同期させ、バックアップとして有効活用できます。こちらのツールは合法的な目的に使用される一方で、近年ではRaaS（Ransomware as a Service）により多機能な使われ方をされています。ランサムウェアの手口は、まずターゲットのネットワークに侵入し、次にMEGAsyncを使ってファイルを抜き取り、その後二重に脅迫を行うというものです。Lockbit、Hades、ALPHVといった主要なRaaSが、このMEGAsyncツールの悪用が目立っています。’
