「13.56MHzの電波を用いた、10cm以内の近距離で106〜424kbpsの通信を可能にする無線通信規格。2003年にISO/IECIS18092として認定され、国際標準となった。ソニーの「FeliCa」やPhilips社の「Mifare」など、非接触式ICカードの通信方式として広く採用されてきた。その公認が進んだことから、ICカードの範囲を超えた一般のエレクトロニクス製品、例えばオーディオ機器などへの普及も予想されている。」
