「調査対象者が一日で摂取する食品と全く同じものを科学的分析し、その中に含まれる化学物質（食品添加物や農薬等）の全体量を計ることにより、食品から取り入れる化学物質の量を算出する手法です。通常、調査に参加してくれる家族に一人分余分に食事を作ってもらい、その部分を分析のための試料とします。」
