シーシーユーエス’とは、’CarbondioxideCapture, Utilization and Storage’を頭文字で表したもので、工場などから放出された二酸化炭素を分離・回収し、さらにそれを資源と見立て、作物生産や化学製品製造に再利用する技術であるCCU（Carbon Capture and Utilization）と、地下の安定した地層への二酸化炭素の固定化・貯留技術であるCCS（Carbon Capture and Storage）の二つを包括する総称です。
