空車率とは

“空車率”という用語は、輸送効率を測るための一つの基準として使用されます。これはトラックが走行する全距離のうち、積荷を持たない状態で走る部分の比率を指します。空車率の数値は、それが低いほど輸送効率が優れていることを示しています。つまり、実際に荷物を載せて移動する距離（実車距離）が増えると、この率が下がります。
自社の輸送車両（ホワイトナンバーのトラック）で配送を行う自家物流の場合、戻りの荷物を見つけることが困難なため、運行に空車が多くなる傾向があります。そのため、物流会社に比べて空車率は低くなります。
