非定型BSEとは

定型BSEとは一線を画する非定型BSE。その特徴はウエスタンブロット法によるテスト結果で明らかになり、定型BSEとは違う規則性を持つバンドパターンが確認される。具体的には、バンドが高い位置で捉えられるH型と、逆に低い位置で検出されるL型の2種類がある。非定型BSEの発現は非常に稀で、大半が8歳以上の高齢牛から報告されており、飼料の規制等でほぼ制御されている定型BSEとは違い、孤発的な疾患の可能性が示されている。また、食品安全委員会は2012年10月に公表した食品健康影響評価書にて、非定型BSEについて、高齢牛以外でのリスクは、存在するとしても無視できるレベルであるとの評価をしている。’
