ユーザーの要望に基づいたメモリデータを、ICメーカーが製造過程でフォトマスクを使用してメモリセルに”1″や”0″を記入するROMをマスクROMと呼びます。マスクROMは、他のメモリよりもメモリセルの大きさが小さいため、大容量化が可能でコストも抑えられます。ただし、一度記入されたデータは書き換えできません。’
