「I/O」は、「入力/出力」(Input/Output)を指す専門用語です。これは、ハードウェアやネットワークへの大量のデータ送受信によって生じる負荷のことをだします。特に、ハードディスクなどの記憶装置へのデータの取り扱いを「ディスクI/O」、ネットワークへのデータ送受信を「ネットワークI/O」と呼び分けることが一般的です。
