役職定年とは

「役職定年」とは、課長や部長などの管理職を務める社員が特定の年齢に達した際にその役職を退く制度を指す。長らく日本では、年功序列や終身雇用のシステムが根付いており、特定の年齢に達すると管理職へ昇格する機会が多く見られた。しかし、一定の役職に同じ人材が長期間留まることを防ぐため、役職定年を導入し人材の流動性を高める動きが見られる。これが役職定年制度の背景にある。
