ドメインパーキングは、既に登録されているがまだ活用されていないドメインを管理し、その間に広告を表示して収益を生むサービスとして知られています。加えて、需要の予想されるドメインを取得して一時的に保管し、後に販売するなどの利用方法もあります。しかし、ネット上の攻撃者が似たようなドメインをパーキングすることで、ユーザーをだまして悪質なサイトへと誘導するなどの問題も起こっており、特に2020年にはマルウェア「Emotet」によるドメインパーキングの悪用が報じられています。
