サニタイゼーション（Sanitization）やサニタイジング（Sanitizing）は、データをメディアやファイルから取り除く行為を表すコンセプトです。その適用は状況により異なりますが、ハードディスク等の記録メディアからデータを完全に消去することや、情報システム、各種ファイル、パケットからマルウェア等の有害なデータを取り除くこと等を意味します。なお、米国国立標準技術研究所（NIST）は、このコンセプトに関するガイドラインとしてSP800-88「Guidelines for Media Sanitization」を発行しています。
