実効線量係数とは

放射性物質の摂取量と被曝線量の関連性を示す係数、それが実効線量係数です。これは核種別、摂取方法別（飲食や吸引等）、年齢層別（大人、小児、乳幼児）に対して、1ベクレルの放射性物質を摂取した際の累積的な実効線量を明示します。年齢層が異なる理由は、大人は50年間、子供は70歳までの予想される被曝線量を計算に含めていること、そして生物学的な半減期や放射線に対する感受性が異なるためです。線量の実際の計算式は、放射能（ベクレル）と実効線量係数（ミリシーベルト/ベクレル）の積である実効線量（ミリシーベルト）となります。’
