取引価格やその他の取引価値が外国の通貨で記されている取引のことを指す。会計記録を行う際に日本円への換算が必要となるため、換算作業を行う際の為替レートが重要な意味を持つ。為替レートは外国通貨、外貨建ての金銭債権債務、外貨建て有価証券、デリバティブの四つのカテゴリーが存在する。外貨建ての金銭債権債務の決済から生じた利益または損失は、基本的にはその期間の為替差益・損失として記録される。’
