キーロガーというマルウェアは、情報窃取目的のスパイウェアの一種として、ユーザーの入力した資格情報を盗み取ります。このユーザーのキー入力を把握するためには通常、APIが使用されます。それだけでなく、ハードウェアに組み込まれた悪意あるプログラムを経由して取得することもあります。サイバー攻撃の状況下では、ターゲットとなるシステムを侵害するマルウェアが、追加のキーロガーやスクリーンスクレーパー等のペイロードをダウンロードする事例が頻繁に見受けられます。’
