コイル’とは、メーカーが製造する薄鋼板を円筒状に巻いて出荷するもので、「コイル板」や「コイル材」などと呼ばれます。月圧機、またはレベラーと称する設備によって巻きつけられた状態から解放され、数対のロールの間を通過することで巻き癖が取り除かれ、平坦な板状になります。この形状への調整により、それを板として利用することが可能になります。
