“ブランキング”という言葉は、ブランク（空白）を作り出す加工のプロセスを表します。多くの場合、プレス製品の外形を形成するために用いられます。この形状を生み出す手法は、「外形抜き加工」や「ブランク加工（ブランキング）」とも称されます。
