メタ認知とは

メタ認知’とは、自身の認識や思考、行動基準といった「認知」状態を、客観的な視点から理解することに掛かる概念です。語源は、「高次の」を意味する’メタ(meta)’と’認知(cognition)’という二つの単語から来ており、この語は認知心理学の用語として使われるようになりました。この概念は、1976年にジョン・H・フラベルというアメリカの心理学者によって定義されました。この考え方は、古代の哲学者ソクラテスの「我知らざるを知る」の哲学にも繋がっており、自身の認知状態の不完全さを冷静に捉え、それを改善することで成長を促すものなのです。
