ETLとは

ETL’という言葉は、「Extract」（抽出）、「Transform」（変換）、そして「Load」（格納）の各単語の初頭の文字から成る略称であり、データの抽出、変換、そして格納を行うプロセス、あるいはこれらのプロセスを補助するソフトウェアやサービスを指します。現在のような多様なシステムが混在している環境で、各システムが管理するデータを連係し、集約化したデータを解析・適用する要望が増大しています。この際、データを取り出したり、解析し易い形に加工したり、任意のストレージに保存したりする作業が生じます。このようなタスクを補助するのが「ETLツール」の役割です。
