代替データストリームとは

WindowsのNTFSファイルシステムは、代替データストリーム（AlternateDataStream、通称ADS）という特別なファイル属性をサポートしています。代替データストリームはファイル内のデータ領域で、NTFSはこの領域を活用してパーティション上のファイルやディレクトリ情報をマスターファイルテーブルとして管理します。その結果、NTFS上の各ファイルは、既定のストリーム（DefaultStream）に加えて、メタデータの格納場所としての代替データストリームを持っています。これにより、それぞれのファイルは独自の属性情報を保持することが可能になります。
