2021年の10月から活動を開始した「BlackByte」という二重恐喝型のランサムウェアが登場しました。これは、犯罪者に対してランサムウェアの機能を提供するRaaS（Ransomware as a Service）によるものです。2022年2月には、本ランサムウェアが米国の重要インフラを数箇所で攻撃していた事実が、FBIによって公表され、警告が発せられました。’
