「FPGA（Field Programmable Gate Array）は、PLD（Programmable Logic Device）の一種で、自由にプログラムが設定できるセミカスタムICである。CPUやDSP、無線アクセス用のトランシーバを搭載した製品も存在しています。開発期間を効率的に短縮できるため、試作品制作だけでなく、完成品の製造にも活用されています。具体的には、規則的に配置されたプログラム可能な論理モジュールと、それらのモジュールを接続する結線（プログラム）により、論理回路を形成します。プログラム手法としては、SRAMセル方式、EPROM方式、導通フューズ（アンチフューズ）方式、フラッシュEEPROM内蔵方式などがあります。」
