銀行保証状について。
これは貿易取引において、取引当事者間で問題が生じた場合の損害を一方が保証することを明記した文書である。一般的に、船荷証券を交換する際には、証券がなければ船会社から貨物を受け取ることは許可されない。しかし、保証状（L/G）を提出することで、船荷証券がなくても貨物を引き取ることができるようになる。言い換えれば、保証状（L/G）は「買主が後日に銀行と共に船荷証券を取得し提示することを保証する書状」であると説明できる。
英名は’Letter of Guarantee’となる。
