MIRAIとは

「Mirai」と呼ばれるマルウェアが、2016年に世に姿を現しました。その頃始まったばかりだった監視カメラやDVDプレーヤーといったIoTデバイスへの感染が起き、大規模なボットネットを形成し、DDoS攻撃を展開しました。この攻撃は通信サービスプロバイダーであるDynに対して行われ、大範囲のネットワーク障害が引き起こされました。IoTデバイスの多くはデフォルト設定のユーザー名やパスワードが使用されがちで、セキュリティ対策が整っていないことが多かったため、この事件以降、IoTセキュリティの注目度が一段と高まりました。
現在もなお活動を続けるMiraiボットネットは、オンラインゲーム「Wynncraft」のサーバなどに対し、断続的に大規模DDoS攻撃を仕掛けています。
