グローバルサウス’とは、アジア、アフリカや中南米地域に位置するインド、ブラジル、タイ、南アフリカなどの新興国や発展途上国を総括した名称です。
これらの国々は冷戦時代の「第三世界」に該当していましたが、2050年までには彼らの名目GDPの合計がアメリカや中国を超えると見込まれています。加えて、人口の観点からもグローバルサウスの国々は世界の3分の2を占めると予想されています。経済的・政治的な視点から、これらの国々への関心が世界的に高まっています。
