仮想パッチとは

「仮想パッチ（VirtualPatching）」とは、ソフトウェアやアプリケーションの弱点を強化するための手段です。脆弱性が明らかになるか公開されると、通常は製品やソフトウェアのメーカーがパッチ（修正ソフトウェア）を提供します。だがゼロデイ脆弱性（発見と同時に悪用される脆弱性）のように、パッチが公開されるまでに時間が掛かる場合や、パッチの適用に多額のコストが掛かる状況もあります。こういったケースで仮想パッチが活用されます。
