条鋼’は、平らな形状を持たない様々な圧延鋼材（例えばレールやH形鋼、棒鋼など）の一括りの名称です。基本的に、平鋼はこのカテゴリには含まれません。しかし、ロール圧延が全ての端部に対して行われた場合、つまり上下面だけでなく端部にもロールが当てられた平鋼は、条鋼として認識されます。
