ICの製造工程におけるリソグラフィ手順では、フォトレジストの塗布・露光・現像に続き、エッチング等のマスクとして活用されます。その後、残った不必要なフォトレジストは、酸素プラズマなどを用いて反応させることにより除去する。この一連の作業プロセスを灰化と呼びます。
