「内R」という言葉は、溶断工程における内側の角に添えられる「R（半径）」を指します。直角で折り曲げる際に内Rを設けないと、特に厚みのある板では下部の部分で製品が傷ついてしまう危険性があります。そこで、製品へのダメージを避けるために、適切なサイズのRを割り当てて切断作業を行います。
