ヴィッシングとは、音声（Voice）と不正行為（phishing）を組み合わせた新語で、フィッシング攻撃がメールだけでなく、短信（SMS）や電話でも引き起こされる現象を指します。攻撃者が個人の資格情報やクレジットカード情報などを標的から引き出し、それにより不正アクセスや金の盗難を目論む行為です。
具体的な攻撃方法として、大量のSMSを送信してから電話をかけるように仕向けたり、ロボコールを使って一斉に電話攻撃を行ったりする手口があります。同様に、攻撃者はSMSを使って標的を偽のウェブサイトなどに誘導し、情報を盗み出そうとするスミッシング（Smishing）という手法も存在します。
