PDMとは

「ProductDataManagement」、通称PDMとは、CADや部品表（BOM）のような製品データ、あるいは設計技術に関する情報を一元的に管理し、そこから生じる生産工程の課題を解消するための専門的な手法を指します。この結果、全体的な作業効率の向上を実現します。一方、PDMに近い管理手法であるPLMは、設計フェーズに限らず、生産設備、人員の管理、流通、ユーザーサポートなど、製品の生涯を通じてのデータ管理手法と位置づけられています。
