UTMとは

「UTM」は「Unified Threat Management（統合脅威管理）」の頭文字を取ったもので、一連の多様なセキュリティ機能を一つの硬装化したプラットフォームにまとめ、ネットワーク管理を一元化するセキュリティ商品やツールを指します。このUTMは、主に中小規模の組織に向けて開発され、ファイアウォールの他にもメールのセキュリティー、侵入検知・防御システム（IDS／IPS）、ウイルス対策、Webプロキシ、仮想プライベートネットワーク（VPN）などの様々なセキュリティ対策機能が備わっています。これらのUTMはハードウェア形態からソフトウェアベース、さらにはクラウドサービス形式まで、様々な形態で提供されています。
