ワーカホリックとは

「ワーカホリック」は、「work」（仕事）と「alcoholic」（アルコール依存者）の言葉が組み合わさった表現で、これを日本語にすると「仕事中毒」になります。人々の私生活を軽視し、仕事から引き離されることに対して罪悪感や不安感を覚え、仕事に依存する状態を指します。

ワーカホリックになると、休むことなく日夜問わず働き続け、過労やストレスが溜まり、結果的に生産性が落ちてしまうにも関わらず、自身が「働かなければならない」という強迫観念に捕らわれ、仕事から逃れることができません。これは最終的に健康を損なうことにつながり、バーンアウト（燃え尽き症候群）という状態に陥り、職を離れる結果となります。
