α粒子とは、ヘリウムの原子核と同質の中性子と陽子各２個から構成される粒子の流れを指します。この粒子は物質を透過する力が弱く、薄い紙一枚で阻止可能な低い透過力を有しています。これに対してエネルギーは強いという特性を持つ、それがα粒子、俗に言う粒子線です。
