ヒューリスティックとは心理学用語で「探索的な方法論」と解釈され、常に正確な解答ではないが、経験や偏見を頼りに直感で一定の正解に近い結論を導き出す思考パターンを指します。これは「経験から得られる法則」を指すとされています。たとえば、横断歩道を信号が青の間に渡るかどうかを判断する時、人々は自分の歩数や速度を正確に計算せず、日常の習慣から自然に間に合うと感じ、そのまま横断します。このように、日常生活の中で行動する背景には無意識のうちにヒューリスティックの思考が働いているのです。
