「アイコム」とは、それぞれ「Input（インプット）」、「Control（コントロール）」、「Output（アウトプット）」、「Mechanism（メカニズム）」の各語の頭文字を組み合わせて作られた略語です。業務改革のプロセスをスムーズに進める際の一部として業務分析が行われますが、このとき「アイコム」が用いられ、業務の全貌を明確に捉えるための視覚的な手続きを支援します。
