「米国証券取引委員会（U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission）は、米国連邦政府の下で証券取引の規制を行なう公的機関です。彼らの重要な役割は、証券取引に関する法律違反に対して民事制裁を求めることや犯罪捜査を担うことです。米国企業がサイバー攻撃などにより情報漏洩を起こしてしまった場合、該当企業は証券取引委員会の調査や制裁の対象となります。過去には、セキュリティ体制の欠陥や不適切な管理によって制裁を受けた米国企業も少なくありません。」
